My Personal Experiences - Cat
The Importance of Feeding Healthy Pet Food
My husband and I used to buy the kind of cat foodyou can findinmanyTV commercials. One day I saw a cute cat food commercial withacatchy tune, and I decidedwe should switch to that cat food. I liked the colorful package, too. For a while, our catdidfine, and seemed to enjoy the food.

But it didnt last. He started to have trouble urinating. Hewouldstay in his litter box for a long time, trying to urinate, with noreal success.Alarmed, we took him to ourneighborhoodvet, who had to keep our cat for several daysbecause of aproblem with his urinary tract. The bill was high, and the veterinarian told us that the cat wouldneed to be on a special prescribed diet for the rest of his life (our cat was only 3 years old back then). We started to feed him the prescribed cat food the vet sold us. Jiji, our big black cat

But soon, another problemoccurred. The cat started to have severe diarrheaaftereverymeal. The air was always filled with his offensive fecal smell, which was almost unbearable. I just couldnt understandwhy this cat must eataspecial-- supposedly helpful --dietthatwascausinghim another problem.

I desperately started to look for an answer to my questions, and gradually Ilearned that there were good quality and poor quality cat foods on the market. Balanced nutrition was very basic in maintaining cats health in the first place, andyou had to be knowledgeable about ingredients and read the cat food labels carefully before you decide to buy them.

After a few trials of different brands of cat food, I decided to try Lifes Abundance cat food. The cat accepted the food willingly in spite of his finicky eating habits. I keptcarefullymonitoring our catshealth, andthe cat seemed to be doing okay on the food.We found a new (holistic) veterinarian, whochecked our cats body and told us he was doing just fine. It was a relief.

Years later, our cat is still on the same diet, Lifes Abundance cat food. Every time we take himforregular check-ups, our holistic vet assures us the cat continues to be in healthy condition.

I should have learned the importance of proper care of our cat a long time ago, especially the proper diet with balanced nutrition. My husband, who didnt give much thought to how diet can have a positive or negative impact on health, now believes that good diet is important to maintain our cats health.

The high cost vet bills taught us a lesson.
